As the family held onto hope; the dreaded words were delivered.  Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright (retired), the oldest of the Natchez Eight Baby Boomer Siblings died in the early hours of October 8, 2011.  Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright was the first African American female Master Sergeant, 1st Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army Reserve 75th MAC; Maneuver Area Command.   Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright served in the United States Army for 27 years.

In addition, Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright was the most devoted and caring mother, grandmother.  Without a doubt, Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright steadfastly and proficiently tackled all of life’s ordeals with overwhelming self-confidence.  The poem Godspeed Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright; We Salute You, Outright pays the utmost respect to Command Sergeant Major Vivian Bright.
